Dutchess County Airport to Host Wings of Freedom Tour
Rare WWII Aircraft on Display Sept 29 – Oct 1

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Airport will host the Collings Foundation’s WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR September 29th to October 1st. The tour features rare treasures of aviation history: the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” WWII Heavy Bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” WWII Heavy Bomber and P-51 Mustang fighter. The B-17 is one of only 8 in flying condition in the United States and the B-24J and Full Dual Control P-51C Mustang are the sole remaining examples of their type flying in the world. This is a unique opportunity to explore these aircrafts inside and out.

Online Auction Underway for Surplus County Vehicles & Equipment

Poughkeepsie, NYPoughkeepsie, NY… Over 50 vehicles and equipment items are currently available for online bid during Dutchess County’s Surplus Vehicle & Equipment Auction, being conducted online at Vehicles include police vehicles, passenger vehicles, pickups, dump trucks, a bus, a trolley and an electric utility vehicle. Equipment items available for bid include backpack leaf blowers plus much more. The online auction is underway now through September 23rd at 8pm.

Heritage Lecture Series Continues September 18th

Poughkeepsie, NY… The second presentation of the 2014 Dutchess Heritage Speaker Series will reveal the story of the Palatines, Dutchess County’s earliest German immigrants, and their exodus to the Mid-Hudson at the beginning of the eighteenth century. Professor Philip Otterness, author of Becoming German:  The 1709 Palatine Migration to New York, will trace the Palatine migration from the German Rhineland in 1709 through London and into the Hudson Valley between 1710 and 1712. The heritage lecture will take place on Thursday, September 18th, at 7:00 pm at the Historic Elmendorph Inn, located at 7562 Route 9 in Red Hook.
