Dutchess Exec Molinaro says it’s ‘far too early’ to talk about running for governor in 2018

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says it’s “flattering” that his name is being floated as a possible candidate for governor in 2018 but that’s it’s too early to say whether he’ll run.

Molinaro was mentioned Monday evening by outgoing U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, as a potentially strong Republican opponent to Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo.

Asked about possible GOP candidates for the state’s top job, Gibson said: “Rob Astorino may come back again. Marc Molinaro I think is somebody I have a high regard for. Harry Wilson, there’s a good story.”
